Jaime's Creative Process

All of my paintings are based on real places Iβve explored firsthand.
My creative process begins outdoors, where I spend time immersed in the natural landscapeβwalking, observing, and sketching. These field sketches are not just visual notes, but emotional impressions that serve as the foundation for my finished studio work. I also take reference photographs to supplement the on-site sketches, but my primary goal is not to replicate a scene. Rather, I aim to capture the essence of how it feels to be there.
My work is rooted in expressionism rather than photorealism.

I am less concerned with precise representation and more focused on translating the emotional and sensory experience of being in nature. I use vibrant, often exaggerated color palettes and bold, gestural linework to build a hyper-saturated, dream-like interpretation of the landscape.
Each element is intentionally composed to evoke a particular mood or feelingβwhether itβs the calm stillness of a forest or the wild energy of a mountain trail.
Back in the studio, I work with fluid acrylics on wood panels.Β Each piece is an original, hand-painted work of art that reflects my ongoing exploration of the natural world and my emotional connection to it.
